Niowave acquires AMAC International

CSA Corporate Sustaining Member Niowave Inc. has announced the recent acquisition of all SRF Technologies and SRF Business from AMAC International of Newport News VA.

AMAC was founded in 1999 to specialize in the design and manufacture of superconducting RF power couplers, magnetic levitation and cryogenics. The company has delivered RF power couplers to laboratories such as the Spallation Neutron Source at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the NSCL at MSU and Fermilab.

Niowave, founded in 2005, is a high-tech research, development and manufacturing firm specializing in superconducting particle accelerators.

“The acquisition of AMAC starts a new chapter for Niowave. We have established a growing credibility within the accelerator community,” said Dr. Terry Grimm, President of Niowave. “AMAC has a strong reputation in the accelerator community, and adding their technology and expertise enables us to take on larger and more complex projects.”

The acquisition was finalized on April 20, 2009. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
