Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory will be one of hundreds of institutions and organizations participating in the “USA Science and Engineering Festival Expo” this Saturday and Sunday, October 23-24, in Washington DC. Their exhibit will feature a 3D virtual ride on a beam of light, representing the National Ignition Facility, as well as a “sim” learning tool to introduce visitors to solutions for energy and climate change.
“We’re excited to have this opportunity to share our love of science with the general public and particularly the young people who will be tomorrow’s scientists, engineers and innovators,” said Tomas Diaz de la Rubia, LLNL deputy director for science and technology.
The USA Science and Engineering Festival Expo will feature more than 1,500 activities to entertain and educate in a number of areas, such as aerospace, energy, medicine, biotechnology, genetics, botany, climate science, robotics, nanotechnology, and more. It will be held on the National Mall in Washington DC, and is free and open to the public.
