Todd Adams, Associate Professor at the Florida State University Department of Physics, has been elected chair of Fermilab’s Users Executive Committee (UEC) for a term of one year. The UEC represents the lab’s users not only to its Directorate and various funding agencies, but also to Congress. “Users” are the body of visiting and laboratory-based scientists who utilize Fermilab‘s resources.

There are 13 members in the UEC, with six elected each year to serve two-year terms. Along with an annual trip to Washington DC to meet with US senators and representatives, the UEC also sponsors an annual two-day meeting at Fermilab in June.

“Fermilab is the nation’s top particle physics laboratory, and it is a great honor to be elected chair of the Users Executive Committee, ” Adams said. “It is a exciting time in particle physics, and look forward to the challenges of the coming year.”

Adams began his research at Fermilab in 1997 as a postdoctoral associate. In his time as FSU he has worked on the D-Zero experiment at the Tevatron and the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at the LHC.
