26–29 October 2026 | University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands
The 5th International Workshop on Cooling Systems for High-Temperature Superconducting Applications (IWC-HTS 2026) will take place from 26 to 29 October 2026 at the Waaier Building, University of Twente, bringing together experts from academia, research institutions, and industry to discuss advances in cryogenic cooling technologies for HTS systems.
Organised with the support of the Cryogenic Society of Europe (CSE), IWC-HTS 2026 aims to showcase the latest research results and foster exchange on challenges and opportunities in cryogenic system design and operation. The workshop will be chaired by Dr. P. Borges de Sousa (CERN) and Prof. S. Vanapalli (University of Twente).
Scope and Topics
The technical programme will focus on cooling technologies and cryogenic systems for HTS applications, including:
- Superconducting motors
- Cryogenics for fusion
- Big science facilities (including accelerators)
- Cable development
- Medical applications
- HTS protection
- Power systems
Programme Highlights
- Short courses (26 October 2026): Technical courses offering practical, hands-on learning in cryogenics, heat transfer, and measurement techniques
- Workshop sessions (27–28 October 2026)
- Industry and technical visit (29 October 2026)
Approximately 15 exhibitors are expected, showcasing products and services relevant to cryogenic and superconducting technologies.
