For our cold mechanics, we use ball bearings from ADR from stainless steel which is AISI 440C, DIN X105CrMo17, W.Nr. 1.4125. Does anyone know the data of thermal expansion of this material down to 40 K?

August 1, 2008The thermal contraction of AISI 440C from 293K to 60K (0.182%) is given in http://www.noao.edu/ets/gnirs/SDN0013-02.htm. The contraction to 80K is given as 0.177%. The additional contraction from 60K to 40K should be small compared to from 80K to 60K. I that this is good enough.
