McAlpine, who raps under the name “Alpinekat,” is a 23-year-old Michigan State University graduate and science writer at CERN. The rap describes the LHC and its mission in easy-to-understand terms, and McAlpine and her colleagues can be seen dancing in the caverns and tunnels where the experiments will take place. “We love the rap, and the science is spot-on,” said CERN’s spokesman James Gillies.
