Could anyone advise me about resistance to embrittlement at low temperatures for the alloys in subject, i.e. does the CF10M perform like the CF8M in the same cryogenic service (-215F)?

October 30, 2008The casting type CF-10M should have very similar low temperature properties as CF-8M, if their ferrite contents are equivalent. Sometimes, CF-8M has been tested for various properties at low temperatures, but I don’t believe that there has been any testing of CF-10M. However, except for the slightly higher C content, their chemical specifications are equivalent, so their properties should be equivalent – if the secondary ferrite phase remains equal.
