Votano named Director of National Lab in Italy

Lucia Votano has been named Director of the world’s largest underground laboratory for astroparticle physics, the National Laboratory in Gran Sasso, Italy.
The appointment was made by the Board of Directors of Italy’s National Institute of Nuclear Physics. This is the first time a woman has been named Director of the laboratory. Votano will take office in September.
