On Friday, August 21, Fermilab volunteers, docents and Education Office staffers collaborated to make physics fun and accessible at Labfest, a series of outdoor summer science fairs taking place throughout the Chicagoland area. Fermilab neutrino physicist Dave Schmitz and DZero physicist Mike Cooke put on a cryo show that got lots of attention. CSA was present at last month’s event, which was the final Labfest in the series sponsored by Science Chicago.
The cryo show was just one of several activities that Fermilab hosted as part of the Labfest event in Millenium Park.
“It is wonderful when kids ask questions,” said Penelope Constanta of Fermilab’s Computing Division. “I love Fermilab, so I am happy to tell people about it. I think if you love science, you have a responsibility to propagate that in the next generation.”
