Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility has named Dr. Robert McKeown, a leading nuclear physicist and professor at the California Institute of Technology, as Deputy Director for Science. McKeown will also become a Governor’s Distinguished CEBAF Professor at The College of William and Mary. His undergraduate degree was a BS in Physics from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook NY. He holds a PhD from Princeton University. He also served as a scientist at Argonne National Laboratory, before joining Caltech.
Also at Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility, Dr. Michael Pennington, an internationally known physicist, has been chosen Associate Director for Theoretical and Computational Physics. He is currently a Professor of Mathematical Sciences and Physics and Dean for Educational Outreach at the Durham University, England. He served as a member of Jlab’s Program Advisory Committee, the review panel which selects experiments to be conducted at the lab. In 2009, he was named an Outstanding Referee by the American Institute of Physics.
