Amit Goyal named R&D 2010 Innovator of the Year

Amit Goyal, a researcher at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, has been named R&D magazine’s Innovator of the Year. Goyal’s research has led to major advances in high temperature superconductivity, including those that have driven the technology into the marketplace.

Goyal currently chairs the UT-Batelle-ORNL Corporate Fellows Council and is a Batelle Distinguished Inventor. This year, Goyal won two R&D awards, adding to the three he won in 1999, 2007 and 2009. According to ORNL, Goyal has co-authored more than 300 publications, published over 40 invited papers and book chapters, and has given more than 150 invited presentations in national and international conferences.

Goyal joined ORNL as a postdoctoral fellow in 1991.
