The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) gave the approval to the Golden Pass LNG Terminal LLC and Golden Pass Pipeline LLC to begin commercial operations at the terminal in near Sabine Pass, Texas. Natural gas will be transported and received throughout Texas and Interstate Markets through these facilities, which will be among the largest worldwide when fully operational.
“Golden Pass has satisfactorily addressed the items needed to commence service,” FERC told Reuters.
Phase 1 of operations will involve the sending out of a capacity of 1 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas, while Phase 2 is expected to see commercial operations in May or June. Performance tests and commissioning activities were completed in early March.
Golden Pass LNG is a joint venture between Qatar Petroleum International, ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips.
