The space shuttle Endeavour delighted SLAC employees and other northern California crowds on a final flight, atop a customized 747, to its resting place at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, where it will be on display as a museum exhibit.

Dozens of SLAC employees gathered on a hilltop above the Arrillaga Recreation Center on Friday, September 21, to watch the shuttle en route from a picturesque pass over the Golden Gate Bridge to a low flyover at nearby Moffett Field – as a farewell salute to NASA Ames researchers.

The shuttle began its September 21 flight at Edwards Air Force Base in California’s Mojave Desert to Sacramento, then looped around San Francisco and cut back inland to Moffett Field before heading to southern California, where it flew by Disneyland and other Los Angeles-area landmarks.
