IceCure Medical Ltd., developer of minimally invasive cryoablation technology that destroys tumors by freezing them, announced that it has received a Notice of Allowance from the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) for a new patent titled “Cryogen Flow Control.”

The patent relates to IceCure’s next-generation XSense™ cryoablation system and probes and covers technology designed to precisely control cryogen flow during cryoablation procedures. The innovation utilizes sensors and control algorithms to optimize cryogen delivery and temperature regulation at the probe tip.

Precise control of cryogen flow is critical in cryoablation procedures, as it ensures that the targeted tissue reaches and maintains the required ultra-low temperatures while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. Improved control can enhance procedural consistency, safety, and clinical outcomes.

The Notice of Allowance in China follows similar patents granted in Japan and patent applications currently pending in the United States and Europe.

“IceCure continues to expand its global intellectual property portfolio to protect our innovative technologies,” said IceCure Chief Executive Officer Eyal Shamir. “China represents a significant market opportunity, and this patent strengthens our position as we advance cryoablation solutions worldwide.”

Cryoablation is increasingly used as a minimally invasive alternative to surgical tumor removal, offering patients shorter recovery times and reduced complications. IceCure’s ProSense® system, which uses liquid nitrogen as the cryogen, has received regulatory clearance in multiple countries for the treatment of benign and malignant tumors.

The newly allowed patent is expected to support future product development and commercialization efforts in China and other international markets.
