The world of cryogenics lost a distinguished and dear friend on Sunday, June 17. Dr. Herby Sixsmith, 93, of Norwich, VT died at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, NH.
Michael Bright has joined CSA Corporate Sustaining Member Chart Industries as President of Chart Energy & Chemicals, Inc. Maninder (Tony) Sethi has recently joined Chart Energy & Chemicals, Inc. in the newly created position of Vice President, General Manager - Process Systems.
Taylor Wharton celebrated the grand opening of the company's new cryogenic manufacturing operations near Beijing, China. The new facility will produce a wide range of large cryogenic bulk tanks for the Asian and Pacific markets.
Helium II (He II) refers to the second liquid phase of the most abundant helium isotope (4He). Helium II is also referred to as superfluid helium. Helium II occurs once the temperature of the liquid helium drops below 2.17K. The phase transition between the first liquid phase of Helium (referred...

A Bose-Einstein condensate, first proposed in 1925 by Albert Einstein based on work done by Satyendra Nath Bose (the same Bose from whom the term boson is derived), is a super-cold state of matter in which almost all of the individual atoms have “condensed” down to the lowest possible quantum...
While it does not reach temperatures cold enough to be called cryogenic, carbon dioxide snow is at the heart of a new way of dealing with unwanted pests. It utilizes a quick freezing process that takes advantage of the properties of carbon dioxide snow and has a number of benefits...
The following 3 articles discuss the uses and procedures of various type of cryogenic finishing. 1) By Robin A. Rhodes, Cryogenic Institute of New England, Inc. rrhodes@nitrofreeze.com Cryogenic Deflashing is employed to remove undesired residual mold flash that remains on molded parts after they are removed or ejected from the...
I am trying to select a plastic to be used as a diffuser on the magnet end of a LHe fill siphon. Can you recommend anything that will hold up at LHe temps? I have seen some and they look like HDPE or Polypropylene but I am not sure.
I am looking for the thermal conductivity orthotropic properties from 300K up to 500K (or even higher, if available). “Cryocomp” provides orthotropic data on G-10 (Fill, Warp, Normal) only up to 300K.
I’m a student of physical engineering and I am looking for heat conductivity values of CuCrZr in the low temperature range of 4 to 300K. Jakub Voňka Brno University of Technology Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
