I am trying to find out if anyone knows of or has used an affordable flow meter that can measure liquid nitrogen flow through a pipeline. It doesn’t need to be very accurate as it’s really to allow people in different departments to allocate cost rather than for scientific measurement. The flow will be intermittently 2 phase, around 3 bar and less than 100 liters per hour.

January 6, 2010There is one simple possibility. LN2 is passing a small vessel in which there is an overflow outlet in form of V. So if the flow goes up, the level in the vessel is higher. By level measurement and knowing the geometry of the outlet hole, a flow can be calculated.
