I am interested in finding out more about cryogenic applications and what standards, specifications and test methods (ASTM, etc.) are required for qualification of pipe and tube couplings.

October 29, 2008Two important areas to consider are: 1) basic material integrity at low temperatures (acceptable materials are addressed by ASME B31.3 and BPV Code Section 8, Div. 1 and 2) materials compatibility in the end-use environments such as flammability, oxygen compatibility, and outgassing for vacuum (NASA-STD-6001 is helpful here).
Also, there are two prominent cryogenic equipment companies close to you: PHPK Technologies and Eden Cryogenics.
