NASA Kennedy Space Center recently announced the completion of the eco-friendly Propellants North Administrative and Maintenance Facility, a building that produces as much electricity as it uses. Through the use of solar panels, recycled rain water, and a host of other features, the facility meets its goals for conservation and efficiency.

“How can you not be enthused about something that requires zero energy?” said Bob Cabana, KSC director.

The Propellants North project cost $4.3 million and is NASA’s first carbon neutral building. It consists of an 1,800-square-foot-shop for storing cryogenic fuel transfer equipment as well as a two-story, 9,540-square-foot administrative building.
