A study conducted by Canadian researchers at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center in Toronto has shown that three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (3-D MRI) can accurately detect bleeding within the walls of diseased carotid arteries.
This screening technique may be useful for patients who are at a high risk for stroke. The 3-D MRI was performed on the carotid arteries of 11 patients as part of the study.
