American Superconductor Corporation has announced that it has formed ASMC Korea to better address the expanding wind energy and power grid demands of Korea. The new division is located in Busan, Korea and will provide local applications, engineering, sales, business development and field service support for AMSC customers.
The Korean government recently unveiled a plan to increase the contribution of renewable energy resources to its overall energy mix. The initiative will cost the equivalent US$85.8 billion between now and 2030.
“Korea has long been a key area for AMSC given its focus on energy technology innovation and manufacturing excellence,” said Dan McGahn, senior vice president and general manager of AMSC Superconductors.
