Airgas and XCOR Aerospace have announced a 15-year product sales agreement for Airgas to supply liquid oxygen, helium and nitrogen for XCOR’s reusable, non-toxic propulsion systems. The two companies have also agreed to participate in joint marketing programs to promote XCOR’s propulsion systems and suborbital space launch services.
XCOR is currently building the Lynx suborbital spacecraft, able to fly at altitudes of over 62 miles four or more times a day. The spacecraft, which will use liquid oxygen and helium from Airgas, utilizes a clean, high performance rocket propulsion system.
“To witness the power of an XCOR rocket engine test or see their vehicles fly, like at the Oshkosh air show in 2008, and to know they are using environmentally safe Airgas products, makes us proud to be a part of the XCOR-Airgas team,” said Thom Thoman, Airgas senior vice president–tonnage and merchant gases.
