INOX Air Products, a joint venture of Air Products, has announced that it will construct three air separation units (ASU) and liquefiers in India. The ASU and liquefier merchant plants will produce liquid oxygen, liquid nitrogen and liquid argon in states that have a well-established manufacturing base: Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Puducherry.

INOX Air Products also plans to build a fourth plant and a liquefier for Saint Gobain Glass India (SGGI), which includes a contract for long-term supply of nitrogen and hydrogen.

According to Pavan K. Jain, managing director of INOX Air Products, the new plants are part of the company’s effort to support India’s growth.

“The anticipated manufacturing growth is more than seven percent annually over the next five years, and the demand for industrial gases has been steadily increasing,” he said.

The first three of the four facilities are scheduled to come on stream in 2012, and the fourth in 2011.
