John Baust elected president of American College of Cryosurgery

Dr. John Baust, UNESCO Professor and Director of the Institute of Biomedical Technology at SUNY’s Binghamton University, has been elected President of the group, which promotes the highest possible standards in clinical practice, continuing education and research in cryosurgery, raising public awareness in the uses of cryosurgery, and providing a forum for exchange of ideas and methodologies. ACC, founded in 1977, sponsors scholarly meetings with the US and abroad in partnership with other societies.

Baust is an internationally recognized researcher in the specialty of urologic cancers. He was a co-sponsor with CSA of a very successful joint meeting held in Binghamton with the Society for Cryobiology and has been cooperative with CSA ever since.

Other new officers include Dr. John Bischof, Distinguished McKnight University Professor, Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, University of Minnesota, President-elect; Dr. Andrew Gage, Professor Emeritus, Department of Surgery, SUNY Buffalo, retired Associate Director of the Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Vice President, and Dr. Gloria Graham, a practicing dermatologist in Pine Knoll Shores SC, Secretary/Treasurer.
